Pool Table Room

My wife loves playing pool.  Since she loves pool so much, we decided to add a pool room next to the Dirty Dragon.  The new pool room extends into the main garage.  Don't worry, there is still plenty of space for parking.  Access to the room is from the door that had lead into the garage from the pub room.

The door in the back of the older side room goes to the pub.

My Cousin got himself a new pool table, so he gave me his old one.

I built a cue rack out of left over scrap wood.

Not wanting to drop any money on a pool table light, I decided to build my own out of scrap rough sawn boards, a shop light and old rusty chain.  I decided to try to burn it.  After I was done burning it, I put a coat of poly on it.

For nostalgia, I hooked up the old PS2 to one of the TV's.  I built the shelf and brackets out of more left over rough sawn wood.

Eventually I will finish the walls and ceiling with some more rough sawn wood like the rest of the pub.  Speaking of pub, I added a beer tap through the wall.  My cousin gave me a kegerator which is located on the back side of the wall in the garage portion of the building.

Besides beer taps, earlier this summer I also built a larger deck on the pub along with a new signpost for the pub sign.  Eventually i will be adding a corner rail that this post will tie into.

The Dirty Dragon

Attached to the garage is my mancave/pub that I have dubbed 'The Dirty Dragon'.  This name stems from my youth when I use to play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons.  Throughout the pub I have hung the many rules books I have used over the years.

Roughing in the utility/bathroom and starting to insulate.

Plumbing the bathroom.

I put OSB sheets on all the walls.

From a local saw mill I purchased many board feet of rough sawn pine.  The look I want a rustic look for the place.

I then used that pine on the ceilings and walls.  I also put some sheet metal wains coating on a few of the walls. Around the windows and doors I put up some 2x4's and 2x6's and then used a hatchet to hew up the edges.  Once that was done I took a hand planer and angled the cutting blade and passed that along the surfaces to held give the board an even more hewn effect.  After that was done I used a dark stain to draw out the details of the rough hewn look and varnished it.  The rough sawn boards were then cut up right to these trim boards for a good look.

I placed outlets around the room along the floor.  Besides doing this, I also placed outlets about 7 feet up every three feet along the room for bar lights.  I have these wired to switches that are right by the door so that they can all be turned on or off when coming or going.

Starting to frame the bar. To fit the space I decided to make an angled bar that would allow three bar stools to easily be placed along it.

I placed speakers into the ceiling.  There is a receiver located in the utility room that has blue tooth connect ability.  We can use our phones and connect right to it and play music from our phones that will then broadcast on the speakers.

I used left over rough sawn pine on the bar.

The bar is built with two counters.  The lower counter is a sanded sheet of pine plywood.  The upper counter is a slab of wood that a family friend built for me.

I saw this idea on pinterest for hanging stemware.  This one piece was soon joined by several other old rakes.

I put up a good beer light.

I built an ice tray in the bar using a stainless steel serving tray/lid that I got from the local restaurant supply store for seven dollars.  Underneath the box is 1 inch high dense Styrofoam box I built which keeps the ice very cold, even on the hottest of days.  Besides this, right below is the pizza oven.  I used steel and built a heat shield protecting the box from the heat of the oven when it is used.

I hosted a super bowl game and needed seating, so I built this tall table to use with some stools I picked up at the local salvation army store.

I placed many of my old Dungeon and Dragon books in old frames on the wall. I found some excellent stools for the bar at a local garage sale.

The bottle shelves located behind the bar.  You can also see the many rakes and stemware racks.

Throughout the room I have placed many colored LED lights and TV's.

My cousin had some old bar tables.  He was gracious enough to give them to me.

I built a temporary boot rail around the base of the bar.  I eventually plan to remove this and replace it with a bar rail made out of black iron pipe.
